| The Processing Technique Development
Center was established in the city of Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture
in 1997 to conduct Soarnol® development and technical
service activities in order to meet market needs. For the specific
promotion of "enhancing intelligence," research and
development activities are fused with technical services in order
to promote activities with a stronger "market pull" approach
for determining new customer needs. On a daily basis, Nippon Gohsei
works directly with customers to resolve problems in order to strengthen
its position as a dependable technical partner. |

| To meet the overwhelming demand
for Soarnol®, Nippon Gohsei has constructed a new plant, the
Nippon Gohsei UK
Plant,
in Hull, England. The plant, which began operations in 2004, has
the world's largest single line for EVOH,
with
a
production
capacity of 15,000 tons per year. In concert
with this move, a Customer Service Center was established in Dusseldorf,
Germany in the autumn of 2002 as a technical support center for
Europe. Equipped with a variety of analysis equipment, the Center is designed
to provide even more rapid response to customer demand and to assist
customers as an even closer partner. |

The Central Research Laboratory
is the core of Nippon Gohsei's research and development department
and works toward the development of new products. In 1927, the
Central Research Laboratory was founded and became the first in
Japan to establish a technique
for the industrialization of acetic acid in 1928. Since that time,
it has carried on the tradition of Nippon Gohsei as a technical
leader,
through the development of products such as Soarnol®,
polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) resin, "Gohsenol®", and
other distinctive products based on organic synthesis techniques.
At the physical analysis center located within the Central Research
Laboratory, the physical (and other) properties
of substances are studied as part of an effort to grow
the company's knowledge base
and lead
to future developments. The Central Research Laboratory will continue
to contribute to society by providing products with high added
value. |
